ABOUT ME
Since my arrival in Australia in 2019, I have dreamed of creating the Gold Talent Project, teaching music to people from passion rather than habit. That is why it is essential to me that my students learn how to love an instrument before reading the sheet music and enjoy playing the songs they love.I've been a music teacher for over 10 years now, teaching guitar, bass, piano, drums, ukulele, and Latin instruments to children, adults, and seniors.
My musical journey began when I was 7 years old and my parents gave me my first guitar. From then, I started taking private lessons and participated in all musical activities available at school.
When I was 14, I learned trumpet, and it was when my love for Salsa began. After learning some notes and songs, my passion for singing took over, so I decided to take singing lessons. By that time, I had decided that I would go to University to study music.
In 2008, I started my studies at Central University of Colombia as a Classical Guitarist but after 2 semesters, I shifted my focus to Music Pedagogy, following a recommendation of one of my teachers. That is one of the best pieces of advice I'm most grateful for.
Since then, I have worked at different schools, childcares, and foundations that seek to provide a better future for children in vulnerable areas through music. Nowadays, these young people are excellent musicians and have their own groups and bands.
Music pedagogy means everything to me. Seeing how learning an instrument can change the future of children in a country like Colombia is something that cannot be equaled by anything else.
In Australia, I’ve been teaching kids from 5 to 16 years old since 2020, and from 2024, also adults with the Salsa Project.
Starting Gold Talent in Sydney has been very rewarding, seeing how my students improve each week on their instruments and how their musical tastes and skills evolve is something I would like to continue witnessing for a long time.
